MSNBC map of the status of the economy

The MSNBC site has a very nice interactive map that shows the status of the economy in each state month-by-month from 1995 to Aug. 2009 here. Check it out here:

(It shows Louisiana as one of the states in recovery.)

Email to Business Faculty August 2009

I will again have office hours in Patrick Taylor in the fall. This semester I will be in the Smart Lab Conference room (2301 Patrick F. Taylor Hall) from 9-10:30 am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Please let your students know that I welcome them to come by for any type of help that they may need from the library. (I would be delighted to have you all stop by as well.)
If they prefer to see me in Middleton, they may send me an email and set up an appointment. Help is also always available at the Middleton Reference desk.

NEW! In addition to the walk-in office hours on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, I will also have access to the Patrick Taylor classroom 2145 every Wednesday from 12-2 pm during the fall semester. Please note that I plan to use this time to offer specific training sessions from either 12-1, 1-2, or 12:30-1:30. These sessions will be either a general library overview with a focus on business resources, OR a specific topic to support your class assignments. (These sessions will be scheduled by request and availability. Please contact me as far in advance as possible if you would like to schedule a session for your students.) Because this would be outside of their normal class time, I will be happy to work with you if you would like to offer extra credit for attending a library workshop.

Please remember that I am available to come to your classes and speak with your students about library resources. I can take as little as 10-15 minutes to introduce myself and cover library basics, or as much as an entire class session to give in-depth instruction. Please let me know how I can help you to help your students.

Finally, if you haven’t had a chance to look at the Library’s Business subject guide, please take a look. I’ve added some new resources, including a guide to searching Factiva/Wall Street journal. http://www.lib.lsu.edu/bus/index.html

I’m looking forward to the students’ return. It’s been quieter than a library around here.
